Roundup Weedkiller Ruled Cancerous
Defective Product Pulled From Shelves
In another major loss for Monsanto, a California jury ruled against the Roundup manufacturer on Monday, awarding a California couple $2 billion in damages. Once again a jury found that the couple's cancer was caused by the weedkiller RoundUp.
"The decision in Alameda County Superior Court comes on the heels of a recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) statement that said there were no serious public health risks associated with glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp."
However, in 2015 the World Health Organization released findings that suggest glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic in humans.” Juries that are hearing the cases agree. Monday's ruling is the third case siding with plaintiffs who claim they developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma following longterm exposure to the weedkiller.
